Traveling is an action which one performs just for enjoyment. However, most of them do not realize that there is a deeper significance to it. Traveling has had a lot of positive affects on me. It has broadened my perspective of the world. Before I started traveling I always had a limited mentality. I was shy and did not open up easily to those around me. I did not like talking to strangers and could not hold myself together to go and talk to a foreigner. I was always skeptical about everything. I looked at any food other than Indian food with disdain. But once I started traveling, it was as if I had turned over a new leaf. I became open and could easily interact with different people. Whether he is a person sitting on the flight next to me or a stranger standing in the queue with me. They all were friends. I started talking with foreigners with ease. I also developed a new interest in learning new languages. Learning these languages helped me realize the beauty of the culture of various nations. I also started enjoying different dishes from different parts of the world. Some of them were not meant for my taste buds however most of them, I found delicious. Traveling transformed me from a introvert, withdrawn, sad, skeptical personality into an expressive, cheerful, open-minded, friendly individual. It did not just change who I was, it changed what I was. It made a complete human being ready to face the perilous challenges of the world without losing his foothold. It made me a man ready to go out in the world and make a name for himself.
After reading this post, I'm glad these experiences had a great positive impact on how you are as a person! It is quite difficult to imagine a "shy... introvert(ed), withdrawn, sad" Harshit! :D
ReplyDeleteThat's deep Harshit! I did not know you were capable of such emotions (kidding). I truly do hope that you go out and make a name for yourself though (and remember mine as well). Who knows, maybe in the future both of us will become leaders of some sort ;))
ReplyDeleteSo this experience have made Harshit I know of? Wow.. so if you didn't have chance to go through this experience you must be really shy. I never had any kind of experience which changed me as a person..
ReplyDeleteThere is a lot of character building in your essay, and you do it really well! The contrast between how you were and what you've become is really clear. Oh, and I love that expression you use: "turned over a new leaf."
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that I think you might want to add would be to actually mention the places that you have been to.
